Background and needs
Ciemsa has been providing engineering, construction, infrastructure installation, operation and maintenance services for the public and private sectors in the Uruguayan market since 1980.
From Uruguay we provide services that add value to Latin American countries, adapting solutions that have been tried and tested successfully in Uruguay to different realities and contexts. Their Services unit undertakes operation and maintenance work in complex environments that require technology, engineering, and permanent innovation in terms of management and infrastructure.
His client, the Municipality of Montevideo, to whom Ciemsa provides their transit auditing system, requested to implement this desktop system on a tablet to be able to be used from a moving vehicle that, through cameras, take photograph and record videos of infractions detected in its path.
The need was to implement an interface that allowed the user to quickly analyze the information while the vehicle was in motion.
A field investigation was carried out, participating in the vehicle’s route to have a clear understanding of the context in which the tool would be used. From there, not only needs were detected at the UX / UI level but also ergonomic design since how the tablet was going to be held to read the information had great relevance when thinking about the best UX.
We built a prototype that showcased the new interface and main actions very clear and easy access, maintaining a prudent size and distance to minimize the errors of selecting unwanted options.
This is the result of the new design.
A prototype was generated with all the guidelines to be able to migrate to a web version once Ciemsa has the necessary resources to do so.
